HISTORY
Sonny Sings Sinatra was created by and stars Dr. Ivan Taub—trend-setting Philadelphia bandleader, author, playwright, and professor at Temple University—performing the songs of
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat “King” Cole, Bobby Darin, and Tony Bennett in a style that evokes the sound, emotion, and memories of America’s greatest era of popular music.

Sonny Sings Sinatra debuted at the Gala New Year’s Eve Celebration at Llanerch Country Club in 1999. It was so successful that it took on a life of its own, and has become a perennial favorite for Galas, Corporate Events, Weddings, and private parties for all occasions, from the Main Line to Washington, DC.

Whether performed as a One-Man Show, with small combo, or with the incomparable Ivan Taub Band, this crowd-pleasing performance hits all the right notes, setting the mood for a night of romantic music, dining, and dancing that will add a truly special dimension to your special event! On the closing night of his 100th show at Fager’s Island Resort in Ocean City, MD, Sonny told the audience:

“This show is, and will always be, a celebration of the music, life, and times of Frank Sinatra. It’s not an impersonation, because, as we all know, Frank was one-of-a-kind and no one will ever sound exactly like him again. But I do try and capture, as faithfully as I can, the swinging style, meticulous phrasing, and captivating mood he projected on stage and on record. A lot of this really comes from the lyrics of the songs he sang, written by many of the greatest songwriters in America. These songs have their own special wisdom, revealing the depth of human relationships: the joy of first love, jealousy, heartbreak, and the sweetness of finding love the second time around!”
