Montoj
Troy Marcus, Director of Club Bands & DJs ITM
Troy Marcus—recording artist, songwriter, bassist, and vocalist—is the leader of the original band, Montoj, whose innovative fusion of rock, funk, and a little bit of jazz, has earned a following of dedicated fans. Their self-entitled album, Montoj, released independently in 2007, featured “Tell Me My name” and “Songs for Seasons” heard on 88.5 (WXPN) and Jaxon’s Local Shots at 93.3 (WMMR).
A few career highlights include performing at such notable venues as:
- The Theatre of Living Arts
- World Cafe Live
- The North Star Bar
- The Trocadero
- Grape St. Pub
- McFaddens at the Ballpark (post Phillies game)
- Wachovia Center
When not jamming with Montoj at Philly’s hottest clubs, Troy is found on stage with OverDrive, the Delaware Valley’s hottest, new, party band—an exceptionally versatile six piece band that features a sizzling rhythm section, four powerhouse vocalists, and optional horn section. Anyone who has seen them perform will tell you— OverDrive sends out a wave of contagious, non-stop party energy that pulls people out of their seats and keeps them on the dance floor. Whether performing classic Motown, Club, Funk, Soul, Oldies, or today’s hottest grooves, the band always ROCKS!
Troy is a graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (2002), where he was a member of the Colonial Players Association, the District Choir, and recipient of the prestigious Musicianship Award. Prior to joining ITM, he was a performance instructor for Paul Green School of Rock and bassist/vocalist for the regional cover band, The Rockets.
Whether performing and composing original music for Montoj—playing with OverDrive at Philly’s coolest weddings, galas, mitzvahs, and clubs, or performing as a MC/Host for Celebrity DJs—Troy Marcus brings to your special event a passion for life enriched by a decade of performing experience!
